Online Live Classes

American Robotics Academy offers live online engineering classes for kids, conducted over video chat. We can help students continue learning at home by providing a safe, vetted, and fun classroom experience, led by highly qualified teachers. Let us help you to customize your child’s learning. American Robotics Academy is wishing for you, your staff and your school to be safe.  We all have heard the statement, “We are all in this together”.  Indeed, we are.  The struggle to adjust to the new normal for now.  American Robotics Academy now offers Online Live Classes for three different age groups, Little Engineers  (foundation building course), Future Engineer (learning key concepts), and Think Like an Engineer (insight into Mechanical Engineering).  American Robotics Academy will ship kits for each 8 to 12 week sessions. The sanitized kits will be mailed or picked up at a specified location with the constraints and in compliance with the COVID19 measures for safety.

Little Engineer

Ever looked at amazing LEGO© builds and wonder how they are put together? What makes the build strong yet allows movement? This class is perfect for beginners with engineering in their mind’s eye. Together we will explore the parts and techniques for building strong mechanical creations, while learning the fundamentals of engineering principles.

Over the length of the course, students will discover how to use engineering techniques and processes to:

  • Use the blocks to make shape
  • How to brainstorm what equipment to use to make different builds
  • How to use gears and levers in their builds
  • Learn how to improve their first builds to make it stronger
  • Learn to work with others
  • How to compromise as part of a team

This class will cover the fundamentals of building and engineering principles while making each session engaging and fun. Each student will be encouraged to work the build out before touching a block and we believe that this will open up the minds of children to the world of STEM and ensure they will develop a process of thinking and planning that will be very useful in life.

Age group

5 to 6 years

Class Schedule

Session 1 – June 22nd to July 15th (Mondays and Wednesdays, 2 to 3 pm)

Session 2 – July 20th to August 12th (Mondays and Wednesdays, 2 to 3 pm)

Future Engineer

Your students have done every popular LEGO© set? Don’t know where to go next for their development? We have to the solution for you! In this class students will learn and add to their knowledge of LEGO© building equipment and engineering principles. We will start the journey of LEGO© movement with the gears and introduce gear ratios and how to manipulate the gears.

Over the duration of the course, students will be learning to:

  • Tell the differences between friction and non-friction parts
  • Determine which gear to use for more power or more speed
  • Trouble shooting when a build is not working properly
  • Learn to work with others while brainstorming
  • Identify equipment for builds

This class is designed to build on the knowledge the students have on building to transition them into robotics. Robotics is more than just science because it is also a great way to inspire our future generation to think about how to solve world problems one piece at a time. Each student will be encouraged to share in their experience. Our goal is not only to teach but to inspire them for the future.

Think Like An Engineer

Do you have an older student that thinks they know everything? We have the solution for you. Life does not always come with an instruction book and neither does this class. The students are taught to look at the big picture and then cut it into smaller slices for observation. Each build will be presented in a series of images creating an environment for critical thinking. Students will be guided along the way to deeper their understanding of how things work from the inside out.

Over the duration of the course, students will be learning to:

  • Develop Important critical thinking skills
  • Collaborate with team members
  • Deepen their understanding of mechanical engineering
  • Imagine complex structures they cannot see.
  • Recreate and improve on the initial builds

This class will inspire and reign force creative thinking while in a safe environment for building their knowledge of engineering. Thinking outside the box is the critical theme of this class.

Age group

9 to 11 years

Class Schedule

Session 1 – June 24th to July 17th (Wednesdays and Fridays, 2 to 3 pm)

Our mission at American Robotics Academy® – Austin (West) is to excite, inspire, and motivate young people about the fun, importance, and impact of robotics technology in today’s world. We hope to stimulate their imagination and creativity by encouraging them to explore, experience, and express themselves through our hands-on interactive robotics program.

Our classes teach students to understand “how things work” through hands-on activities that demonstrate the principles of simple and motorized machines. They gain experience with design and problem solving through the use of gears, motors, wheels and axles, pulleys, and remote control devices. Working in age-appropriate teams of three, students learn a variety of ways to design a robot to do the things they want it to do. They decide and build, as a team, the best design of their robot for the competition to be held at the end of each class session.

Imagination …
          Technology …
                       Teamwork …
AND A WHOLE LOT OF FUN!!  🙂

Experts need you to build a variety of very unique robots with an awesome skillset, capable of driving over any junk or obstacle and overcoming any unfamiliar elements or elevation changes in this treacherous junkyard. Use gears, structural integrity, and IR Technology to overcome the unknown. Can your robot not only survive, but thrive in the junkyard? Discover how it feels to “Go for the Gold” as you and your teammates compete in a handful of sports for this class of Robotic Olympics. Each event/sport will test your robot’s structural integrity and maneuverability. At the same time, coach your robots with wireless technology while being put to the test. Using gears, pulleys and varying degrees of traction, students will build robotic athletes. We will compete at soccer, kickball, jousting, wrestling, a MYSTERY Sport and a race across the finish line. Sportsmanship and Robotic Competition Rule!
