American Robotics Academy specializes in engineering, using LEGO® Technic bricks.

Our lesson only starts AFTER a student builds his/her model.
We change/modify/challenge the robot and our young engineers.
We focus on learning, in a non-competitive environment.
Every student gets to build his/her robot or in teams.

Our classes help students understand “how things work”, using LEGO® elements and other products to demonstrate the principles of mechanical, electrical and hydraulics engineering, through hands-on, interactive activities.  Students learn a variety of ways to design robots for a diverse range of activity-based challenges.  From concept to design, students will see their robot come to life.

2018 Spring Break Program:
Mar 12—16 (5 days)

As a junior or senior robotics student, your child will learn to design and build various robots to take on our challenges for “Houston Strong – Harvey Recovery Missions”!

Your student will:
1. Release water reservoir: Design and build a reservoir and dam, along with a robot to operate the door to release the high water in the reservoir.

2. Remove trash: Build special robots to handle various trash types. Sort and process these trash by discarding them into designated collectors.

3. Demolish damaged Bridge: Design and build special robots to demolish a damaged bridge.

4. Rebuild New Bridge: Design and build special robots to build a new bridge.

5. Rebuild Houses: Design a house and build that house by using the robot your child created.

6. Rescue Stranded Vehicles: Design ways to rescue some stranded vehicles.

7. Rescue Drowning Animals: Design ways to rescue stranded drowning animals.

8. Drone Survey City Damage: Fly actual micro drones over the city to perform damage assessment.

9. Initiate Citizen Patrols: Build a patrol system to safeguard the city.

Junior students will create their recovery solutions with Lego Power Function equipment. Our focus for junior members is learning mechanical designs.

Senior students will build and learn the programmable Mindstorms EV3 robots. They will have the ultimate opportunity to learn mechanical design with LEGOs parts along many EV3 programming functions related sensors. Two kids will be in one team to design and build various robots and learn programming together, as these challenges are more advanced and will require more expertise than one builder. (Many of robotics programs put up-to-10-students to work on one robot).
